Biography

Fishing has always been a big part of my life and a passion of mine, from a very early age. This continued to grow right through my life and currently I enjoy the excitement and challenge of competing against other quality anglers on the tournament scene.

Predominantly competing in both kayak and non-boater bream and bass events since 2012, I have been fortunate enough to make some great mates along the way and achieve some really satisfying results, most noteably:

  •        2013 Hobie Mooloolaba Bream Qualifier Champion
  •        2014 Hobie Mooloolaba Bream Qualifier 3rd place
  •        2017 ABT Big Bass Clarence River Qualifier
  •        2013 Hobie Kayak Bream Grand Finalist
  •        2016 ABT Bream Grand Finalist (Non-boater)

When not out fishing I work as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist in Grafton, NSW. But as much as possible I try to get out on the water in search of many species. From chasing all the normal estuary species to trout, cod and bass in the freshwater not too far from home, to venturing offshore chasing all sorts of big pelagics and reef fish. There’s just something about fishing, one moment its very therapeutic and relaxing, next minute its an adrenaline rush!

Feel free to follow my adventures or contact with any questions in regards to fishing the Clarence Valley, kayak fishing, getting into the tournament scene or anything else fishing!

Happy hunting,
Mat Cameron
