Sadly, we had to leave but joyfully headed further up the coastline to a larger town called Lovina. More traditional fishing boats lined the shoreline. We didn’t fish as hard but joined the locals chasing reef fish on handlines. It was a wonderful throwback to my childhood learning where to go and how to feel the delicate bite of a fish. We managed a couple of goat fish too. I didn’t know this as I watched a local put a hook through its eyes and throw it out under a 20lt water container, but they use them as marlin bait. Sadly no marlin turned up.
