Shiner China Diner.
The 75mm Atomic Hardz Shiner, 75mm in the colour silver ghost is the lure that I used right across the top end chasing Barra. It gets down among structure vertically and rises at a slow pace. The lure spends plenty of time in the strike zone. Perfect for a lazy Barra. The colour resembles a lolly pop sized mullet that stalking fish cannot resist.
On this particular day fishing, I went with my father and a few locals to a creek. The low tide had drained most of the water into sectioned off pools that would have been up to a meter in depth, were a dirty mud colour and had all the mullet that did not retreat fast enough with the tide.
There was plenty of weed around which made casting lures difficult. The only part that we could land a lure was right in tight to the mangroves where predators would be lurking. The meter of weedless territory was just enough to work the 75mm shiner enough to convince a fish to bite. The pool was probably 10m in length. We pulled around 25 mangrove jack, a few cod and 3 legal Barra. As soon as the tide started filling in, we had to leg it out of there to avoid the incoming crocs. Great session!
