South Australia has some of the best eating fish in the country and they are all accessible from, or near, Adelaide. One of my favourite spots to fish is Wirrina Cove, a little over an hour south of the state’s capital city. Here my main targets are snapper, southern calamari, snook and King George whiting which are all available throughout the year. While it is possible to catch all of these species from the shore, it is best if you havea boat to get off shore a bit. 2 kms is about as far as you need go. Just be wary of a NW wind as it can get a bit rough with tide against current.
